FAQ
Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions by our users. If you don’t see an answer to your question or have another query then please email support@ispeeddial.com
Q: Why should I choose Photo Speed Dial over one of the cheaper programs?
A: We realize there are several cheap programs that claim similar functions, but we feel you’ll be happy paying a little more for PSD than you would paying less for a different program then finding its short comings. As far as we’re aware Photo Speed Dial is the only app with full dialing, SMS Texts and email options, multiple pages of favorites, and with support for both your favorites and full contacts.
We have some major features and surprises planned for future versions. As these come online it’s likely we will raise the curent price (current users will be able to upgrade free of charge) to reflect the featureset of the application.
Q: When I tap a favorite the address book opens instead of dialing/emailing.
A: When you add a favorite you must assign which number or email address to speed-dial. You can do this while adding a favorite, or by later editing an existing favorite. If a favorite has a speed-dial assigned it will display an email, SMS or Phone icon.
Q: How can I enter edit mode?
A: Just touch any favorite for a few seconds until the pictures begin to jiggle. You can then rearrange, edit, or delete your favorites. There is no editing mode for your AddressBook contacts.
Q: How do I edit or change my speed-dial numbers?
A: Enter edit mode and touch the blue information for a contact. You can then choose a new number from your contacts.
Q: Can I change the name that’s displayed for a favorite?
A: Enter edit mode and touch the blue information for a contact. You can change the display name, photo and speed-dial options for any favorite. These settings will not affect your address book entry, so you can have favorites for the same person with different text/images/
Q: Can you make it load faster?
A: The 1.1 updates makes some significant improvements in this area, particularly for people with large numbers of favorites/contacts. We have ideas on how to reduce this further that we will continue to investigate for future releases.
Q: Can you add features X and Y?
A: Sure! Ok, maybe
We’d love to hear your ideas as to how we can improve Photo Speed Dial. Send them to us at support@ispeeddial.com
Q: After installing Photo Speed Dial there was a crash in PhotoSpeedDial / an application / my iPhone!
A: As has been reported elsewhere the current version of the iPhone OS may exhibit issues after installing applications. The most common problem reported with third-party applications is that after installation they will suddenly exit the first time they are run, or until the phone is rebooted. Aside from this issue, we have seen no recorded crashes in PSD.
Q: Is Photo Speed Dial able to handle characters such as * , and #.
A: No and Yes. The SDK does not currently allow third-party applications to initiate phone calls to numbers that contain these symbols, so you cannot have a favorite who’s speed dial uses these smbols. However, double-tapping a favorite will show their address book entry where you may then select a number that contains these symbols. Because this is an address book page the dialing is performed by the iPhone OS so all numbers will work.
